Three Salkehatchie Interns Honored

Holly Hughes, Rebecca Scheffler, and Tyler Ard assisted Dr. Kilpatrick during summer research projects

Three USC Salkehatchie student interns working with Dr. Eran Kilpatrick, assistant professor of biology, were honored at a STEPs to STEM reception August 5 at the Graduate Science Research Center in Columbia. Rebecca Scheffler, Tyler Ard, and Holly Hughes each received a summer stipend to work on various tasks and projects, including: installing traps and collecting data for a reptile and amphibian inventory project in Allendale County, working with a graduate student from the College of Charleston to install reptile and amphibian traps for a study in Colleton County, creating a database and entering reptile and amphibian data from Kilpatrick’s field notes, working as a lab technician for a summer microbiology course, and teaching labs and leading field biology components for the Summer Scholars camp.
