Walter Banks—AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1982; BA from USC Aiken in 1985; M.Ed. from University of Phoenix; married Jennifer in 1995 and has two daughters, Madison and Caitlyn; works as assistant headmaster and athletic director of Monroe Students gather on the lawn in front of the original classroom building for a campus event, circa 1978.  Academy in Forsyth, Ga.; named GISA AA baseball coach of the year in 2007 and Georgia Dugout Club coach of the year in 2007; lives in Georgia

Mary Elizabeth McCormack Baughman—AA from USC Salkehatchie in 1985; has three children,
James Patrick, Millie Elizabeth, and Jeffrey Richard; lives in Hilton Head

Toga party

Toga, toga! Toga parties were frequently held by students at USC Salkehatchie in the 1970's and the 1980's, as was this one in the Hut. The tradition was recieved in 2007 when SGA sponsored a toga party.

Cindy Lyons Chitty—AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1986; BS in business administration from Carolina in 1987; married to Bill Chitty and has two sons, Will and Morgan; works as audit manager for the S.C. Department of Revenue; lives in Summerville

Joseph William “Bill” Chitty III—AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1985; BS in business administration from Carolina in 1987; married Cindy Lyons and has two sons, Will and Morgan; works as a sales representative for Cooper Crouse Hinds; lives in Summerville

DeAnn Everett Cook—BSN from USC Aiken in 1995; married in 2000 and has a son; works as nursing supervisor with Region Five Home Health Services; lives in Luray

Jill Chappell-Fail—BAIS earned at USC Salkehatchie in 1986; MLIS from Carolina in 1999; married Raymond Fail in 1989; currently raising their stepgrandson, Phillip; worked at the University of South Carolina College of Education from 1991 to
1995; since 1995, has worked as an information resources consultant with the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies at Carolina; has served as an adjunct instructor for the School of Library and Information Science since 2000 and began instructing University 101 in 2007; lives in Gaston

Henri Mae Grant—AA from USC Salkehatchie in 1980; served as Allendale County auditor since election in 1995; co-owner of Heritage Funeral Home in Allendale and is an apprentice to become a licensed funeral director; lives in Allendale

Beverly Barker Hallman—AA from USC Salkehatchie in 1983; associate’s in business degree from Columbia Junior College in 1984; married Charles Hallman in 1986 and has one son, Andrew; works as a paralegal for Peters, Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth, and Detrick, PA; formerly worked with Motley Rice LLC; lives in Barnwell


Regardless of the year, Salkehatchie students have always enjoyed gathering on the grounds between classes to spend time with friends.

Barbara Mack Hanna—AA with honors from USC Salkehatchie in 1981; married Ed Hanna in 1987; has three children, Daniel, Ellen, and Matt, and one grandchild; works as a real estate broker with The Hanna Company; lives in Allendale

Charlotte Heaton—AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1988; BS in business administration from USC Aiken, cum laude, in 1990; after graduation became an insurance agent in Walterboro; elected and served as Colleton County auditor from 1995 until 2003; has worked since 2004 as a revenue officer for the S.C. Department of Revenue; has one daughter, Ashley Amundson, who graduated from USC, earned a law degree at UNC, and is now practicing law in Walterboro; lives
in Walterboro

Bonnie Langley—BA in elementary education from USC Aiken in 1989; taught fourth grade in Colleton County schools and served as a math interventionist; retired; lives in Walterboro

Anne Myers Mock —AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1980; BS from USC in 1982; master’s from S.C. State in 2000; married Malcolm Mock and has two children, Tripp and Clint; employed by Bamberg School District One; lives in Bamberg

Pam Main Priester—AS from USC Salkehatchie in 1988; BS in secondary education/math from USC Aiken in 1990; M.Ed. in secondary education/ math from USC in 1995; M.Ed. in school counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2005; earned National Board certification in math in 2002; married John M. Priester Jr. in 1990 and has two children, Matt and Taylor; lives in Sycamore

Daphne Zissette Vaughan—BA in psychology from Coastal Carolina College (now University) in 1991; married Dan Vaughan and has a daughter, Taylor; she and her husband own Indusco Environmental Services Inc. in Atlanta, where she handles the accounting; lives in Georgia
