The USC Salkehatchie Leadership is located on the West Campus of USC Salkehatchie.

The Leadership Institute was established in 1998 to help stimulate economic development in the rural areas it serves: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton and Hampton counties. The Institute oversees programs that make real, tangible advances in its three areas of emphasis:

  1. Leadership Development
  2. Community and Economic Development
  3. Business and Workforce Development

The Leadership Institute is expanding its activities in the areas of workforce development and industry certifications and training. Specific areas of concentration include continuing education courses, industry specific certifications (in partnership with SCMEP), and nuclear workforce development and training. USC Salkehatchie is adding courses to its offerings that will encourage students to explore and to enter areas of study that are centered on math and science. The Leadership Institute is assisting with the administration of a grant from SRSCRO that specifically seeks to prepare students for a career in the nuclear industry.
