Have you noticed the four large planter boxes just inside the fence along Strickland St. on Salkehatchie’s East Campus?   They make up the newest edition to our campus and the initial phase of the USC Salk Campus Community Garden.  These raised garden beds are available for adoption to any group of students, staff, or faculty (or better yet, any combination of students, faculty, and staff) on a first come, first served basis.

The USC Salkehatchie Campus Community Garden is administered by a committee made up of faculty and staff.  Dr. Martha McKevlin is the coordinator of the garden committee.  The purpose of our campus community garden is threefold:

1) To encourage members of our campus community to improve their health by improving their diet with fresh produce.

2) To allow students to develop stronger relationships with their USC Salkehatchie family.

3) To allow faculty and students to develop outside-the-classroom learning activities such as community service projects.
