Twenty educators from schools in Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell and Hampton counties attended the “Bringing Nuclear into the Classroom” workshop on May 17.

The goal of the workshop was to equip teachers to incorporate nuclear science concepts in their lessons. Teachers participated in hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations that they could use with their students. Additionally, each participant received a Geiger counter and other free materials worth around $350.

This event was free for the educators thanks to sponsorships by the Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness and the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and with support from the American Nuclear Society and Energy Solutions.

The event was hosted at USC Salkehatchie (West Campus).
